Charming, lanky actor born in Ottawa Ontario in 1951. Tom Bulter graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1974.

His first professional theatre work was in George F. Walker's Better Living. He has played at theatres across Canada since the 1970s, including Toronto Free Theatre (Dead of Winter and Night and Day); Theatre Passe Muraille (Gods of Money); Young People's Theatre (Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew); Theatre Plus (A View From the Bridge); and Toronto Workshop Productions/TWP (St. Joan of the Stockyards, Names, The Wobbly); and Centaur Theatre (the premiere of David Fennario's Toronto), among others.

Tom Butler has worked extensively in television drama: he had a recurring role on the TV series, The Commish, and has appeared twice in the Fox series, The X-Files. More recently, he has performed in The Line, scripted by George F. Walker.
