Actor born in London England August 12, 1936 to missionary parents, Elizabeth Shepherd spent her early childhood in Burma, returning to the UK during WWII. She learned her acting skills in the English repertory theatre circuit. Since 1965, she has performed in New York, London, in major theatres across Canada, and extensively in film.

Her many diverse stage appearances include: Stratford Festival (Cordelia in King Lear); Shaw Festival (Elisa Doolittle in Pygmalion); Vancouver Playhouse (Alice Gendron in The Coronation Voyage by Michel Marc Bouchard, 2000); Centaur Theatre (Old Times, Kennedy's Children, The Seagull, A Streetcar Named Desire); and Saidye Bronfman Centre (Passion Play).

In Toronto, she played Lyubov Ranevskaya in The Cherry Orchard, Elmire in Tartuffe, and Virginia Sedgeway, a solo performance in Immediate Family. In 1998 she appeared in Diane Cave's The Breakdown for Carpe Diem Theatre in Toronto, and in March, 2000 in Buddies in Bad Times' production of The Water Crawlers. In April, 2000, she appeared in the double-bill, Footfalls/Krapp's Last Tape, at the duMaurier World Stage Festival.

In October, 2001, she appeared in the Citadel Theatre production of Cabaret as Frau Schneider. In 2002, she appeared as Miss Havisham in Great Expectations at the Derby Theatre, Derby, England and at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia. In September and October 2002 she appeared at Stratford's Studio Theatre as Lily in Walk Right Up.

Elizabeth Shepherd has also had an extensive and diverse career in television and cinema, and is a respected teacher of Shakespeare and English classical drama. She enjoys participating in horror film conventions, and giving public readings of poetry by Edgar Allan Poe.
