Quick-witted Quebec veteran stage and television personality, born May 8, 1930 in Montreal.

Edgar Fruitier's first important role, according to him, was in Félix Leclerc's Sonnez les matines at the Théâtre du Rideau Vert (1960) where he went on to be a favourite. For the Company he also appeared in Guillaume le confident, 1956; La Magicienne en pantoufles, 1957; Les petites têtes, 1961; La Facture, 1970; and Noé, 1975 among others.

He was part of the cast of TNM's highly successful Don Quichotte which was revived in September, 1999 and performed in Michel Duchesne's Les quatre cents coups (Théâtre d'Eastman, June, 2000).

Fruitier's performances are marked by a remarkable intelligence and absolute assurance with texts, classical or modern.

He considers himself a comic actor. He has recounted that his first auditions consisted of tragic scenes given to teachers bent over with laughter.

In 2019, he was convicted of indecent assault on a minor in 1974 and 1976.
