Actor and writer, born in St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador in 1955. She was nineteen years old when her brother, Andy Jones, asked her to join the Travelling Newfoundland Theatre Company.

She is a founding member of Codco and stayed with Codco until its TV show was cancelled by the CBC. Since 1992, she has appeared as several diverse and hilarious characters in the successful CBC TV series, This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

She is also a stand-up comic. Her one-woman shows include Wedding in Texas, and Me, Dad and the Hundred Boyfriends. In January 2017, her latest show, Stranger to Hard Work, plays at the High Performance Rodeo in Calgary in a co-production by Alberta Theatre Projects and One Yellow Rabbit.

Cathy Jones has won eighteen Gemini Awards for her work as a writer and performer. In 2000, she was awarded an honorary degree by Memorial University.

She was married to artist Paul Hannon, and has two daughters, Mara and Eleanor. She lives in Halifax.
