Quebec actor, born January 28, 1954, who has been highly visible on Montreal stages and television since graduating from Collège Lionel-Groulx in 1977.

After studying in a private all-girls school and playing male roles in Molière, Markita Boies has performed lead and featured roles in the classical, modern and Quebec repertory, including Mme Martin in Ionesco's La Cantatrice Chauve/The Bald Soprano at Théâtre du Rideau Vert under the direction of Daniel Roussel, as well as in Cindy Lou Johnson's Les Années/The Years directed by Martine Beaulne at Théâtre de Quat'Sous. She also took the one-woman show in which she starred at Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui, La Fille de Christophe Colomb, to Paris and Switzerland. She received excellent reviews as well for her portrayal of la Marquise in Molière's Bourgeois gentilhomme which was given an extravagant production, directed by Denise Filiatrault, at the Just for Laughs Festival. In November 2000, she appeared in the Rideau Vert production of L'Heureux Stratagème; and in 2005, in Ma Mère chien (dir. Wajdi Mouawad) at Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui. More recently, Boies performed the solo role in Autour du lactume (2017/18, dir. Martin Faucher) at Festival du Jamais Lu.

Among her many television roles, Markita Boies appeared in the adaptation of Michel Tremblay's Marcel poursuivi par les chiens.
