C. David Johnson

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec November 29, 1955, C. David Johnson is a graduate of the Playhouse Acting School in Vancouver. He began his acting career with Theatre New Brunswick, where he has continued to perform for over twenty-five years, including the role of Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1992, with Douglas Campbell as Big Daddy and Sarah Orenstein as Maggie); in Misery and Sleuth; and as Captain Hook in Walter Learning’s production of Peter Pan.

He has been a member of the Soulpepper Theatre Company (Jitters, Mary Stuart, King Lear, Three Penny Opera, The Real Thing, The Way of the World and The Play's the Thing (Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination, 2004). For the Stratford Festival, he played Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music; Pat Denning in 42nd Street; and Major General Stanley in The Pirates of Penzance (2011). He has also played at the Vancouver Playhouse and the National Arts Centre Company, and other regional theatres across the country.

Film and television credits include Mysterious Island (Global), Thanks of a Grateful Nation and Aldrich Ames (Showtime), and Hidden Dimensions (IMAX). He is probably best known on TV for the role of the morally dubious Chuck Tchobanian on the long-running CBC series Street Legal, for which he received four Gemini nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. More recently, he played the lawyer in the CBC's Diggstown

C. David Johnson is now based in Toronto. He was married to Diane D’Aquila from 1987 to 1992, with whom he has two children. Since 2012, he is married to music contractor, Jill Dell'abate.
