Damir Andrei
Damir Andrei

Director/actor born in Zagreb, Croatia. He came to Montreal with his parents in 1963 at the age of 8, speaking neither English nor French. He is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada in acting, inspired by the work of Douglas Rain.

Damir Andrei worked often at the now defunct Phoenix Theatre of Montreal directing Sexual Perversity in Chicago among other plays there. He has done much of his directing work at Montreal's Centaur Theatre, including Bordertown Café, The Main, Playboy of the West Indies and The Freidman Family Fortune. He has also worked at the Blyth Festival, Canadian Stage and the National Arts Centre. Andrei's style is unobtrusive and text-driven.

He now lives in Toronto, where he has acted extensively in film and television, including Dead Ringers (1988), and Slings and Arrows (2003), among many others.
