Quebec-based character actor renowned for taking immense risks in his television as well as theatrical performances. Denis Bouchard was born October 9, 1953, and is a 1978 graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada.

He has played many of the classics of the Quebec repertory including a magnificent rendition of the transvestite in Michel Tremblay's Damnée Manon, Sacrée Sandra (opposite Sylvie Drapeau, Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui, 1992, directed by André Brassard); in the revival of Gratien Gélinas' Fridolinades at the Théâtre du Rideau Vert in 1991-92 (directed by Denise Filiatrault and later revived on television); and in the 1996 revival of Gélinas' Bousille et les justes at the Théâtre du Vieux Terrebonne in 1996 (directed by Fernand Rainville) and then again at the Nouvelle Compagnie Théâtrale / Théâtre Denise-Pelletier.

After a hiatus when he performed more in television and film, Bouchard returned to the stage in 2007 with Bang! a one man show uniting acting and technology. As focused in comedy as he is in drama, he is thoroughly convincing in the physical and psychic transformations he undertakes for his performances.

In 1998 he directed the mega-hit Québécois production of Grease (co-produced by Allan Sandler). His production of La cage aux folles appeared in in February, 2000 (also co-produced by Sandler).
