Quebec-based actor/singer, born in Sept-Iles January 23, 1968. Mario Saint-Amand began his theatre career in 1987 at Nouvelle Compagnie Théâtrale / Théâtre Denise-Pelletier in Le Mariage de Figaro. His first acting role was that of Harlequin in Marivaux's play Le Jeu de l'Amour et du Hasard.

Throughout the early 1990s, he appeared in plays directed by André Brassard, Dominic Champagne, and André Montmorency. He appeared in several important productions including the world premieres of Jean-François Caron's Aux hommes de bonne volonté (Théâtre de Quat'Sous, 1993); and Jérôme Labbé's Jusqu'au Colorado (Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui, 1996). He also performed in the francophone premieres of Brad Fraser's Des Restes humains non-identifiés et la véritable nature de l'amour/Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love (1992) and L'Homme Laid/The Ugly Man (1993), both at Théâtre de Quat'Sous.

Since the 1980s, Mario Saint-Amand has enjoyed a solid career on television and in film, notably as the Quebec rock singer, Gerry Boulet in Gerry (2011), for which he was nominated for a Jutra Award.

His performances are marked by his delight in character detail, and an odd balancing act between vulnerability and roughness.

In 2019, Mario Saint-Amand was a student at Laval University and research assistant at the Quebec City Dependency Rehabilitation Centre.
