Soutière, Yves

Quebec-based actor, singer, and director, born in 1964. He studied theatre at Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe from 1981-1984.

Yves Soutière performed with the Nouvelle Compagnie Théâtrale / Théâtre Denise-Pelletier (Iphigénie, 1992 and L'Illusion comique, 1990); Théâtre de l'Opsis (Grand et Petit, 1987); and Théâtre Ubu (Le désir attrapé par la queue, 1985). In 1993, he performed solo in the difficult work Le petit bois by Eugène Durif at Espace Go. In 2009, he appeared in L’Imposture at Théâtre du Nouveau Monde.

He has also performed in important musical theatre works: the Jean-Pierre Ferland/Paul Baillargeon piece Gala (1987); the Michel Tremblay/André Gagnon opera Nelligan (1990), and as Captain Von Trapp in a touring production of Mélodie du bonheur (The Sound of Music) for Just for Laughs in 2012 (dir. Denise Filiatrault).

Soutière has also performed frequently on television, in film, and as a singer. For his role as Pin-Pon in the children's TV series, he was awarded a Gemini in 1998.
