Actor born in New Westminster, British Columbia in 1917, died in Los Angeles, California, 1993.

Best known for television (Perry Mason 1957-66, and Ironside), Raymond Burr made his stage debut at twelve with a Vancouver stock company. He worked in repertory theatre in Toronto, and on radio in Canada for several years, and acted in thirty plays for Pasadena Playhouse, and on Broadway. From 1946, he played the villain in fifty film noir features, including Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window.

His partner from 1960-93 was Robert Benevides, with whom he opened a winery.
