Dupuis, Gilbert
Quebec-based playwright, born in 1953, who specializes in works propelled by social issues.
In the 1970s, Gilbert Dupuis employed agitprop techniques while working with Montreal's Théâtre de Quartier for ten years as author, actor, director. He realized the drawbacks of the form and went on to write works that were immediately recognized as solidly crafted. Among these works are Kushapatshikan where he approaches the spiritual void in society through the lives of white and Indigenous workers.
Perhaps his most successful work is the Governor General’s Award-winning Mon oncle Marcel qui vague vague près du Métro Berri.
Other plays include: Déséquilibre - Le Défi (DynamO Théâtre, March, 2000, directed by Alain Fournier).
