Harold Green Jewish Theatre

Professional, non-profit Jewish theatre company, founded in 2006 and located in Toronto Ontario. Its mandate is to celebrate Jewish stories about history, beliefs, struggles and triumphs which are relevant to today’s audiences, and to foster intercultural relations. It produces a season of three or four plays, including one play in Yiddish, and a series of concerts. Performances are in the Greenwin Theatre, Toronto Centre for the Arts.

The Company’s inaugural play was Rose (2008) by Martin Sherman, directed by Diana Leblanc and starring Lally Cadeau. The second production was The Sisters Rosensweig by Wendy Wasserstein.

In 2009, it produced Tuesdays With Morrie by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom (dir. Ted Dykstra in the Winter Garden Theatre (Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre).

In 2010, the Company produced Lenin’s Embalmers by Vern Thiessen in a co-production with the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre.

The 2019/20 season featured a co-production with Obsidian Theatre Company of Actually by Anna Ziegler (dir. Philip Akin).

Founders and co-artistic directors are Avery Saltzman and David Eisner.
