Hausmann, Andrès

Director, who has worked in French and English in Quebec and Ontario. Andrès Hausmann was a co-founder with Ray Tomalty and Kelly Patterson of Montreal's Imago Theatre. He was Artistic Director from 1987 to 1996, and directed most of the productions.

Hausmann was a risk-taking director whose style was challenging, sometimes illuminating the text through a kind of theatrical chiaroscuro. Among the works he has directed are Heiner Müller's Quartet, Louise Arsenault's Bivouac, a series of Beckett's shorter plays, a work called Conversation (which counterpointed the plays of Pinter and Beckett), and the scintillating collective creation Incandescent about the atomic bomb.

In 2019, he directed a production of Cabaret for Korda Artistic Productions, an amateur company based in Windsor, Ontario.

He currently lives in Miami, Florida with his family.
