She has played lead roles in many major houses across the country including the title role in Shakespeare 's Antony and Cleopatra ( Centaur Theatre ), Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ( Grand Theatre, London ), Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth, Portia, Viola, Cordelia, Juliet and Tennessee Williams' Hannah (The Night of the Iguana) ( Stratford Festival ), The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe ( Belfry Theatre , Neptune Theatre , National Arts Centre , Manitoba Theatre Centre /MTC), Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire ( Theatre New Brunswick ), Eliza in Pygmalion and Candida ( Shaw Festival ), Medea and Hedda Gabler (MTC). More recently (February, 2000) she played Blanche again at MTC and Medea again at Stratford (summer, 2000) and appeared in Wit at Canadian Stage (March, 2001).
She was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for her performance in The Road to Mecca (Canadian Stage) and won one for Saint Joan ( Theatre Plus ).
Seana McKenna also works often in the United States.
She is married to actor/director Miles Potter . They have one child.
