Venue in Calgary, Alberta, built as Band Hall in 1898.
The residents of the town of Canmore (between Banff and Calgary) decided to form a band and therefore built, out of logs, a hall which also served for dances. It acquired the new name in 1899 and with the name came higher profile entertainment including touring opera and choral societies. Electricity was installed in 1915 but the venue had begun a decline and it closed its doors in 1960.
However when Heritage Park was founded, it was decided that the opera house would be moved, piece by piece to Calgary.
It became the theatre for Alberta Theatre Projects in 1972 until 1985.
