Gravenhurst Opera House

Venue in Gravenhurst, Ontario, opened in 1901, and one of only five heritage Opera Houses still being used in the province. It was designed to be the heart of the community, housing the town offices and council chambers, as well as the Magistrates Court, and a venue for live entertainment. It was extensively renovated in the mid-1990s, and the modern auditorium seats 338. Today, it is the home of live theatre and concerts, dance recitals, meetings and weddings.

The first theatre production was the musical The Days of the Year. In the mid 1990s, it provided a stage for the summer theatre productions of the Straw Hat Players. Performers who have appeared there include Gordon Pinsent, Ted Follows, Rod Beattie and Barbara Hamilton.
