Heredi, Monika

Set and costume designer, Monika Heredi was born in Montreal, Quebec and graduated from the design section of the National Theatre School of Canada in 1990. She was part of Montreal's Repercussion Theatre, designing their first five productions. She has worked at the Shaw Festival as an assistant designer, and designing the set and costumes for Overruled, directed by Roy Surrette. Following a few years of freelance work in Ontario (Company of Sirens, Carousel Players, Magnus Theatre), she won the "Baden-Württemberg Theatre Residency Program," through which she went to the National Theater Mannheim to observe German Theatre. She then went on to work at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck Austria as an assistant designer as well as designer.

Since 1999, she has been living in Budapest, Hungary. She has freelanced as an assistant set designer on various operas at the Stuttgart, Nürnberg and Aachen opera houses in Germany, as well as the Volksoper in Vienna, and as assistant costume designer at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria, and the Katona Jozsef Theater in Budapest, Hungary. She designed costumes for the Stadttheater Bruneck, in Italy, and was a guest instructor of costume design at the Theatre School there as well.
