Bédard, Lyse

Quebec-based costume designer for theatre, dance, film, and television, born November 27, 1948.

After studying at the school of haute-couture Cotnoir-Caponi and then at the National Theatre School of Canada, Lyse Bédard worked with the Grand Cirque Ordinaire. She has also worked with Théâtre de la Rallonge as well as Théâtre de la Manufacture. She has designed often with Denis Marleau and his Théâtre Ubu, and created the costumes for this company's productions of Roberto Zucco and Les Ubs (for which she received the award for best costumes from the Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre).

In 1997 (revival in 1999), she designed the costumes for the Company's acclaimed production of Les maîtres anciens.

More recently, she has designed extensively for film and television, including A Happy Man (2009), Chartrand et Simonne (2000-03), and Le Bonheur de Pierre (2010).

She has also taught at CEGEP Lionel Groulx.
