Martel, Jean-Charles

Quebec-based set and lighting designer. Jean-Charles Martel has designed for anglophone and francophone companies, across the province including Théâtre du Bois du Coulonge, Théâtre la Licorne, Omnibus, Théâtre Sans Fils, Théâtre d'Aujourd'hui, Infinitheatre and the Saidye Bronfman Centre among others. He designed this last's production of They're Playing Our Song and Infinitheatre production of Byron Ayanoglu's Food/Bouffe (February, 2001).

He has also served at technical coordinator for La Quinzaine International de Théâtre du Québec, and at Bois de Coulonge. He teaches at the theatre department of the CEGEP Ste-Hyacinthe.

Martel's work is marked by realism and a palette given to pastels.
