Tracey Nepinak

Tracey Nepinak has Cree/Scottish roots in the Peguis First Nation. She is the daughter of a residential school survivor, and believes in social reconciliation, creating understanding and awareness through theatre. She began her theatre training in Vancouver in the late 1980's at Spirit Song Native Theatre School. She then moved home to Winnipeg, Manitoba, completed a BA Honours degree in theatre.

In 2021, she played Philomena Moosetail in The Rez Sisters for the Stratford Festival. Other recent credits include: Rae Anna in Honour Beat (Grand Theatre, London and Theatre Calgary); Agatu in The Third Colour (Prairie Theatre Exchange); and Crazy Bone in A Brief History of Crazy Bone (Theatre Projects Manitoba).

She has recently written a play for the Writer's Circle, Manitoba Theatre Centre titled Pinaymootang.

Directing credits include: The War Being Waged (Prairie Theatre Exchange). In 2026, she directed The Undeniable Accusations of Red Cadmium Light by Drew Hayden Taylor for Prairie Theatre Exchange; and Strife by Matthew MacKenzie, a Tarragon Theatre and Punctuate Theatre co-production.
